Well I started this journey in october of 2000 at a little central Texas college. I flew the Cessna 152 early in the morning due to me still being in the military and that was the only time I could get off.My first flight instructor was a nice guy with a sick sense of humor. On my first flight I got to totally fly the plane! This is way better than I thought it would be. I took off and headed NE towards the lake. We went over the basics like straight and level and why not to chase the horizon on the instrument panel. He then showed me a power off stall and how to set up for it. When it was my turn he tells me to go ahead and put full right rudder in as I’m pulling back for the stall. I thought “OK, this must be to counteract the roll or something.”

I set the plane up, slowed her up and pulled back on the yoke. The stall horn goes off so I start applying right rudder and there we go! We enter a spin and I look over at my CFI with eyes that were probably as big as baseballs. He’s laughing and says, “well, you better pull out.” So I do the only logical thing that came to mind and stopped pressing on the right rudder and relaxed the yoke forward which broke the spin.

Once I recovered and was at straight and level again, My CFI looked at me and said, ” Good job, now you know what to do and what not to do during a stall.” All I could think was ,”Jeez, next time give a little warning so I won’t piss myself !”

More later….
